Getting smarter about the way we use energy will save families money and create jobs right here in Virginia. Energy experts agree that by far the cleanest, cheapest and quickest way to produce more energy is through efficiency. That is why energy efficiency is our #1 goal this legislative session in Richmond, and why we are banding with numerous other environmental groups across Virginia in Statewide Call for Energy Efficiency.
Some bills are good and take Virginia forward to greater energy efficiency. Some bills, while well intended, miss the mark and may actually cause more harm than good. Unlike the bills we do support, they don’t contain a 19% mandated goal, provide a strong definition of energy efficiency that reduces global warming pollution, and very importantly provides a fair-rate of return/incentive for utilities investing in energy efficiency programs.
