Oil Disaster: What You Can Do to Help

Gulf Coast communities are facing the challenge of managing the immediate cleanup and recovery needs of area residents, businesses, wildlife and marine life. They will surely need all hands on deck to meet the challenges of the relief effort. Click here to sign up to volunteer as part of the relief efforts and the Sierra Club will connect you with opportunities to help.

This tragic oil disaster in the Gulf Coast changes everything. It’s truly a wake-up call for all of us!

On Friday, May 7, the Virginia Chapter will participate in the “Clean It Up” campaign focused on delivering the message that we need to clean up the Gulf Coast and we need to clean up America’s energy policy.
A mock oil spill / clean is planned for 10:00am in Virginia Beach’s oceanfront area near 31st Street (Neptune’s Park). Contact Eileen Levandoski at eileen.levandoski@sierraclub.org for more information on how you can participate.

We also want to encourage Virginia Sierrans to stage similar protest events at local BP stations throughout Virginia that day. Contact Glen Besa at glen.besa@sierraclub.org for more info.
