Outings

Virginia’s Sierra Club members practice the John Muir belief that to best protect the plant, one must enjoy it as well. John Muir wrote that if people could “hear the trees speak for themselves, all difficulties in the way of forest preservation would vanish.”

Today the Sierra Club’s Outings program has grown to more than 300 domestic and international trips annually. Here in Virginia, many of our local groups have very active outing programs whereby almost every inch of Virginia from its beautiful Blue Ridge mountains to its clean, shiny Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay beaches are explored.
