Each March, the Virginia Chapter Sierra Club has the opportunity to ask our members to support the work we are doing right here to protect the Commonwealth’s environment.

We know what it takes to win.

• In 2012, thanks to your support we fought back against Goliath (aka Virginia Uranium, Inc.) and maintained a 30-year ban on uranium mining and milling in the Commonwealth. We did it by mobilizing thousands of Sierra Club members and concerned citizens.
• In 2012, thanks to your support the EPA finalized its Mercury Rule which prompted Dominion and AEP to retire two old, obsolete and dirty coal plants in Virginia. The Old Dominion Electric Coop (ODEC) behemoth coal plant in Surry County was put on ice and Potomac River Coal Plant in Alexandria after years of battle was finally closed.
• In 2012, thanks to your support we kept the pressure on Dominion to develop more Virginia-made renewable energy, including offshore wind power.
